It can be so hard to find time. Time to rest, time to catch up, time to take your time. Here are three quick things from when I had a minute, for when you have a minute.
In a bid to wage an unholy war on procrastination, I've added a new section this week - Quick Three from Me. I love collating the link loop, and I've been working on some more long form editorials, but in between holding down a full time job and trying to be alive, it can feel daunting to sit down and take the time to type. It's a vicious cycle, that leads me nowhere and eats up my time with dilly dallying (the offical scientific term). Instead of giving up, I'm giving myself permission to do a little bit. To feel a small success. To keep going. And for today, that is enough. ONE: Joy in People by Oscar Hudson starring Merry Colchester
I accidentally stumbled across this docu-drama in the vimeo explore page - I find myself spending more time watching short films there than binging on netflix, partly because it's easier to fins a slot to devour a 15 minute film, and partly because I love seeing little snippets from new and emerging directors - where do you think Cary Joji Fukunaga started out ?
It was hard not to be captured immediately by the opening quote from Bendict Anderson about imagined communities - his 1983 book is essential reading. the film follows a Ben as he looks for joy in other people. Beautifully shot by Oscar Hudson and brilliantly performed by Merry Colchester, I couldn't help but long for a happy ending to this young mans journey.
TWO: Erena Te Paa
I've been following Erena Te Paa for a while now, and am in love with her eye for details. Her home looks absolutely stunning and her instagram is to die for. Her humble writing style and undeniable elegance is utterly charming - be sure to watch her devastatingly beautiful Airbnb tour video (you can stay at her fancy cottage !) and her top tips for searching via trademe on IGTV.
THREE: The Secret Door
THE SECRET DOOR is a funny little page that transports you, via a magic door to a surprise location that you can explore ! The perfect procrastination tool for anyone trapped at their desk but longing to be anywhere else (#wanderlust anyone ?) Whether you're skipping into spring, or indulging in the joys of layered autumnal dressing, I hope you're doing ok out there. Remember sometimes one foot in front of the other is enough.
Talk soon xoxo
