Friday Link Loop #2

This week: Clogs from LA, Cute rings from Melbourne, Newspapers from Glasgow and much much more.

Here in New Zealand it's the last week of the school term before a two week break. This is simultaneously the best and worst feeling - I mean who doesn't love a break, but the pure chaos of the last week would test even the most patient saint. 'How do you do it?' you ask - by ignoring the mounting pile of work on my desk an engaging in a little dream shopping.

Clogs have been a staple in my wardrobe since I got my first pair in 1996 (red patent flat clogs that I wore til my heel hung off the end).

Image from Beklina

These beauties are from Beklina, an online shop based in California. The clogs are made in Peru, the wooden heel is hand-carved and the Italian leather uppers are free from staples that you so often see in classic clogs. I’m not sure which colour I love more, maybe the blue? Although the cognac is such a timeless shade. A lot of international based online stores don't send to New Zealand, so I will most likely be ordering via youshop, a service from NZ Post that allows you to access a world of shopping.

Later tonight I'm headed to The Tuning Fork, a great small sized venue here in Auckland, to check out Wellington musicians Eb & Sparrow . Check out one of their beautiful videos below.

This super cute ring and print from Melbourne designer Penny Min Fergusen had me writing up an imaginary wish list for my birthday in June.

The story behind this ring is SO sweet. I mean look at that little face !

I love the idea that Penny is deigning these little guys from her studio in the Dandenong Ranges. Along with trying to be more cosncious about my digital footprint, this year I'm trying to use my spending power wisely. This from the Min Pin website:

Min Pin believes in compassionate design, quality workmanship, sustainability and fun

Penny is also responsible for this perfect print that is sitting in my cart waiting for payday.

Seriously. Look at these guys.

In light of the recent news about how data analytics has been influencing the world, it seems like as good a time as any to be thinking about what information about us is out there, how it's used, and how we can protect ourselves. THIS article from The Guardian is a really great place to start - like most of us, I have nothing that important to hide, but I still don't think anyone needs a data bank of the places I visit ! Much like debt, Doctor and Dentist, your online health is something to keep in the back of your mind.

Speaking of Papers: THIS is a great new project out of Glasgow. The Newspaper Club is an initiative bringing the printing press to the common people ! You simply produce your own content, use their website templates and you can have your very own paper printed. Such a cool idea for classroom projects, product launches or possible even as a wedding guide for your guests. The options are limited only by your imagination !

Hope you have a great weekend - til next time xxx
